Purpose
editThis page is the language policy for the AGES wiki (*AGES to the COSMOS*). It explains how we publish content in **English** and **Spanish**, with **French** and **Italian** planned later.
We use **one wiki per language** (separate site per language), not subpages like `Page/es`. URLs and article titles stay in the language of that site.
| Language | Site | Example policy page |
|---|---|---|
| English | ages.wiki | AGES:Languages (this page) |
| Spanish | es.ages.wiki | AGES:Idiomas |
| French | *(planned)* | — |
| Italian | *(planned)* | — |
Two kinds of pages
edit- Normal article
A single page in the language of that wiki. No cross-language URL suffix.
- Linked across wikis
When the same topic exists in English and Spanish, editors add an **interlanguage link** at the top or in the article, for example on English:
[[es:Título en español]]
and on Spanish:
[[en:English title]]
That populates the language sidebar (like Wikipedia). Titles may differ (`Character` vs `Personaje`).
What to publish when
edit- English-first (general lore)
Write on ages.wiki. Add `` when a Spanish article exists on es.ages.wiki.
- Spanish-first (comic)
Write on es.ages.wiki with Spanish titles. Add `en:…` when an English article exists.
- Stubs
Publish on the wiki that matches the language you are writing in. Link the other language when ready.
Reader experience
edit- If only one language has an article, readers see that wiki only.
- If both exist, the language control shows the other site.
- There is no requirement that every English page have Spanish (or vice versa).
For editors
edit- Pick the correct site (ages.wiki vs es.ages.wiki) before creating a page.
- Use localized titles on each wiki.
- Link paired articles with interwiki (`` / `en:…`).
- Meta/policy pages live in the AGES: namespace on each wiki.
